This is it! The game we've been waiting. Ever since April, when this game was publicly announced, the talk around town has been about Mallard Creek. And now the time has come. Friday night, Memorial Stadium will be buzzing with electricity as the two teams take the field in what will hopefully be a good game. Mallard Creek, a 4A powerhouse from Charlotte NC comes in loaded with 13 returning starters. They have size, strength, speed, and depth. Their high school has approximately 2300 students while Dillon has approximately 900. Just to put that in to perspective, for every 2 students Dillon has, Mallard Creek has 5. Talk about a real David and Goliath story. Mallard Creek is ranked #1 in North Carolina 4A poll and ranked #31 in the nation in USA Today High School Poll. I have even heard that they are ranked as high as #20 in the nation, but have not seen that anywhere. Dillon is ranked #1 in South Carolina 2A poll and would hopefully show up in the national rankings if they can pull off the upset.
Tickets will be on sale at the High School starting tomorrow (Monday) for $7.00. I'm sure the game will be packed out. Dillon fans need to get out and support the Wildcats and rally our team.
